Southwood Health Surgical Hosptial earns national accreditation

Southwoods Health has announced that its Surgical Hospital has earned national accreditation under the Metabolic Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).
According to a press release, this accreditation makes Southwoods Health the only accredited bariatric surgery program in Mahoning County.
The Southwoods Center for Comprehensive Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery was created to address the complex needs of individuals dealing with obesity offering both medical and surgical weight loss solutions.
The team focuses on delivering personalized care using a multidisciplinary approach that includes nutrition counseling, medical weight management and bariatric surgical options.
"This accreditation establishes Southwoods as a leading provider of care for individuals living with obesity and obesity-related conditions. The focus is on improving patient health and quality of life through personalized weight loss care," said Southwoods Health CEO Ed Muransky.
Additionally, as an MBSAQIP-accredited hospital, Southwoods is recognized as an American College of Surgeons (ACS) Surgical Quality Partner, a distinction that reflects a hospital's dedication to consistently improving procedures and approaches while maintaining a critical eye on processes at every step.
Southwoods is also expanding its surgical team with Dr. Joseph Martin joining Dr. Brandon Dessecker to bring additional experience and expertise in advanced bariatric surgical techniques.
