Youngstown mayoral candidate Samantha Turner concedes Democratic Primary

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown Third Ward Councilwoman and Democratic mayoral candidate Samantha Turner has conceded the Democratic Primary mayoral race to incumbent Democratic mayoral candidate Tito Brown.
In a statement released to media Tuesday morning, Turner thanked those who supported her throughout her campaign saying while the outcome was not what she hoped for, she's still proud of her campaign and the conversations it started.
Turner's campaign focused on revitalizing the city's neighborhoods, promoting public safety and building economic opportunities for the city.
"This is not the end. Just a new chapter in my commitment to serve the people of Youngstown," Turner said.
Turner went on to congratulate Mayor Brown on his victory in the primary and promised to continue to be a part of the fight for progress in Youngstown.
The Mahoning County Board of Elections is set to certify independent candidates on June 3. Those who filed for candidacy include Youngstown Flea founder Derrick McDowell, Aleesha Foster and John White, whose eligibility is in question.
