Scholarships awarded to local soccer players
The Mahoning Valley High School Soccer Coaches Association awarded $500 scholarships to 20 area graduating players.
The recipients were recognized at a presentation held in Niles Tuesday evening.
Those awarded are boys and girls players from 13 different schools throughout the area.
"These are kids that have worked hard and they have to write an essay and we don't give this award out to the kid that's the best soccer player," said Scott MacMillian, president of the MVHSSCA.
"This kid is chosen for his community service, how much he meant to his program, what he's done for the game and just all around four years of being a standout."
