Job training, housing, healthcare among resources at Wednesday event in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN - The City of Youngstown and the Community Initiative to Reduce Violence (CIRV) will host the annual Ammal HOPE Conference on Wednesday, May 28. The event, described as the city's largest resource event of the year, will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Covelli Centre, at 229 E. Front Street.
The conference aims to connect residents with various services and resources offered by over 100 city and county agencies. Available assistance includes information and support related to Bureau of Motor Vehicles services, legal aid, clothing, education, sober living, healthcare, utilities, senior living, children's services, job training, housing, and employment.
"We have the people on the ground to help," CIRV executive director Guy Burney said. "I always say we don't lack the resources, we just lack togetherness. So as we come together, we can meet more and more needs to help our community."
According to organizers, the conference will also provide resources tailored for re-entry and justice-impacted individuals, seniors, veterans, adults, and youth, to improve their circumstances and offer opportunities.
"We're preparing right now with our agencies to make sure that people in the community and in the valley have the resources that are necessary to move on with their lives, be successful, take care of their families," Burney added.
