SHARON, Pa. - A Sharon man faces multiple felony charges, including rape of a child and statutory sexual assault, following an investigation into allegations made by a 10-year-old girl.

Meco Christopher Dwayne Brown, 43, of Sharon, was taken into custody by Sharon City Police on Friday. He faces 15 felony charges, including two counts each of rape by forcible compulsion, rape of an unconscious victim, rape of a child, statutory sexual assault (11 years older), involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with an unconscious person, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, and three counts of sexual assault.

According to a criminal complaint, the investigation began May 12 when a relative of the alleged victim reported concerns of sexual abuse to the police. The alleged victim later disclosed during a forensic interview at the Mercer County Children's Advocacy Center that Brown had sexually assaulted her on two separate occasions — once when she was 9, and again at Brown's home on King Street.

The girl told investigators that during the first incident, she awoke to Brown performing sex acts on her. She stated her underwear was off and his pants were off during the incident.

The second alleged incident occurred at Brown's home when the girl was supposed to have a sleepover with Brown's daughter.

Brown is being held at Mercer County Prison after failing to post $150,000 bail. His preliminary arraignment was held on Friday, and he is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on May 30 before Magisterial District Judge Travis P. Martwinski.
