WARREN TWP., Ohio - Three suspects were sentenced in two separate animal cruelty cases on Thursday.

Jason and Amanda Carpenter both pled guilty to one count each of cruelty to animals, a second degree misdemeanor. Both were sentenced to 15 days in jail.

The two will serve their sentences over different time periods in order to have one person available to take care of their child. Amanda will serve her sentence beginning June 6 and Jason will serve his beginning June 20.

A condition of the couple's probation is that they are not allowed to have any pets.

The couple was charged in connection with a case where an emaciated dog was found in the middle of Layer Road in Warren Township back in February of 2025. That dog was soon traced back to the Carpenters' home.

Meanwhile, Rick Mason was also sentenced to 15 days in jail on a first degree misdemeanor animal cruelty charge in a separate case where a dog was found in Warren Township with a large ruptured mass in December of 2024.

Mason's jail sentence will start on June 16. He is also barred from owning pets during his probation period.
