MIFFLIN TWP. Ohio -  Authorities are searching for a 21-year-old man accused of shooting two suburban Columbus police officers Wednesday evening during a traffic stop. The incident occurred in Mifflin Township, a community located in Franklin County.

One officer remains hospitalized in critical condition following the shooting, which happened around 6:45 p.m. near the intersection of Mecca Drive and Perdue Avenue. The other injured officer has been released from the hospital.

According to officials, the officers were shot as they were chasing the passenger who had fled from a car pulled over for a traffic violation.

Emergency medical personnel transported the injured officers to a local hospital.

The driver of the stopped vehicle is cooperating with investigators. However, the passenger, identified as Daveonte Dixon, remains at large. Charges of one count of attempted murder and two counts of felonious assault have been filed against Dixon, whose date of birth is June 6, 2003.

"Our focus right now is on the recovery of our injured officers and bringing the individual responsible to justice," said Franklin County Sheriff Dallas Baldwin. "We are asking anyone with information to come forward immediately."

Local, state, and federal agencies are assisting in the search for Dixon. Authorities have urged the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
