PennDOT hosts bike safety rodeo at Buhl Park in Hermitage

HERMITAGE, Pa. - PennDOT hosted a free children's bicycle rodeo at Buhl Park in Hermitage Saturday to promote bike safety for kids.
Kids were able to partake in a safety course, learn balancing skills, and practice safety signals.
"We just want to emphasize the importance of safety, make sure you're wearing your helmet, riding on the right side of the road, wearing reflective clothing. Our goal is just to promote a culture of safety over the summer," said PennDOT District 1 safety press officer Saxton Daughtery.
The Mercer County Sheriff's Office gave away free helmets, and The Bicycle Shop in Hermitage provided free safety inspections for bikes. A few free bikes were raffled off thanks to State Rep. Parke Wentling.
