Gas prices fall in northeast Ohio and Mahoning Valley

NORTHEAST OHIO - Gas prices in the Mahoning Valley are falling after remaining stagnant last week.
This week, the average price for gasoline in northeast Ohio is $2.957 per gallon, which is 14 cents lower than last week's average. Locally, the average price in Youngstown is $2.877 per gallon and $2.882 per gallon in Niles.
Meanwhile, the national average dropped three cents this week to $3.14 per gallon.
AAA East Central says while gas prices are expected to remain lower compared to last summer, the weather could have a wild card effect.
The Atlantic hurricane season begins Sunday, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts a 60% chance of an above-normal season.
Storms along the Gulf Coast could affect oil refineries and disrupt fuel deliveries, which could potentially lead to a temporary increase in gas prices.
