Trumbull County Children Services receives Ohio START certification

WARREN, Ohio - According to a news release, Trumbull County Children Services has achieved the Ohio Sobriety, Treatment and Reducing Trauma (START) certification.
With this certification, Trumbull County becomes the 7th county in Ohio and the 11th county in the nation to earn the certification.
Certification indicates that Trumbull County has implemented the START model with fidelity and has established sustainable practice models in line with state standards, according to the release.
According to the news release, the Ohio START program supports families struggling with substance use by integrating child welfare services with behavioral health treatment and peer mentorship.
Trumbull County began implementing Ohio START in March of 2019 as part of Cohort II of the program's expansion across Ohio, according to the release.
According to the Ohio START Program website, the program has had an impact on over 2,000 children since its beginnings in 2017.
It is noted in the news release that several Trumbull County team members have been recognized for their service.
Kim Ruble, Supervisor of Recovery Services, was named the 2025 Ohio START Supervisor of the Year, highlighting her leadership and dedication to the program's success.
In 2024, Angela Cochran was honored as the Ohio START Caseworker or the Year.
Jennifer Barbera received the Family of the Year Award in 2023. She now inspires others as a START Family Peer Mentor.
