The Lakeview softball team will make its first state final four appearance Wednesday.

The Bulldogs travel to Akron Firestone Stadium to take on Hillsboro in the Division IV State Semifinal at 12:30 p.m.

"We know they have a good pitcher so we really have to attack on offense, but we're a really good, well-rounded team so I think if we're just confident in ourselves we'll be just fine," said left-fielder Hallie Capan.

Lakeview and Hillsboro are both playing in the state final four for the first time in program history.

"I think we're just feeling excited," said pitcher Ava Bacon. "Try not to think about it too much, I know we're in the state final four but it's just another game at that moment."

Head coach Dave Kelm credits the Bulldogs' offense for much of their success.

"Our most consistent thing has been our offense," said Kelm. "The girls really bounce that ball around the field, they do a great job with it."

Junior catcher Mackenzie Stowe leads the team with 53 RBIs this season and has hit 11 home runs.

Senior Kennedy Bartlett has 28 RBIs, junior Isabella Isenberg with 27, junior Kalyssa Werner has 24 and senior Hallie Capan has 22.

Senior pitcher Ava Bacon has a 2.37 ERA and is 11-0 with 105 strikeouts this season. Isenberg shares time in the circle and has a 3.85 ERA with 76 strikeouts.

Lakeview is 22-4 and Hillsboro is 22-3. The winner advances to play in the state championship against the winner of Lexington/Kenton Ridge Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
