Trumbull Co. Prosecutor opposes parole of convicted rapist

TRUMBULL COUNTY, OH - The Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office is standing against the potential parole of a convicted rapist.
Brian Clingerman, 55, was sentenced to 12 to 50 years prison in March 1995 after being convicted on two counts of rape.
According to the release, the conviction and consecutive prison term stems from two separate cases from August 1994 and January 1995. Clingerman had been let out of prison in May, just three months before the first rape after serving time for an attempted burglary conviction.
Prosecutor's say Clingerman used a ladder in August 1994 to enter the bedroom of a 33-year-old woman who lived with her aunt. She was attacked while she was asleep. When she tried to resist him, she was hit in the face and head until she was disoriented.
Clingerman broke into a home of a 23-year-old mother of two who was also asleep with her two children. Clingerman took the victim into a different room where he sexually assaulted her.
In a five-page court entry, Judge Andrew Logan determined that Clingerman is a sexual predator.
Prior to the rape case, Clingerman had 15 separate appearances in the juvenile justice system for offenses that include arson and burglary.
Prosecutor Dennis Watkins said in a letter to the Ohio Parole Board that Clingerman would be extremely dangerous to women and society at large if he was released.
