CORTLAND, Ohio - Power has been restored in Cortland and the surrounding areas following an outage on Sunday,  knocking out power for almost 5,500 homes and businesses, including traffic lights. 

According to the FirstEnergy website, 5,407 customers were affected, including 95% of Cortland, 36% of Bazetta Township, and 50% of the smaller Mecca Township. 

According to Trumbull County emergency services, it is currently unknown what caused the outage.

All emergency services remained operational, including the 911 phone line

As of 11:30 p.m., power was restored to all affected areas.
