Valley landmarks honored for preservation

YOUNGSTOWN - The Mahoning Valley Historical Society announced its 2025 Historic Preservation Award winners Monday, recognizing five projects for their efforts in renovating, preserving, and adapting significant local landmarks.
This year's Commercial Revitalization Awards go to Tim Huber and Michael Fagan for the preservation and remodeling of the Apollo Building at 117 S. Champion St., Youngstown, and to BSHM Architects for their work on Suite 201 within the same building.

The Community Revitalization Award will be presented to the lot owners and trustees of Forest Lawn Memorial Park for the preservation of the "Little Church" at 5400 Market St., Boardman.

The Hull Family will receive the Board of Directors Award of Achievement for their ongoing preservation of White House Fruit Farm, located at 9249 State Route 62, Canfield.

A new honor, the Award of Achievement for Cultural Heritage, will be presented to the Braceville Community Foundation for the revitalization and creation of the Braceville African American Heritage Museum at 1250 Cedar St., Braceville Township.

The awards will be presented at the Tyler History Center on Tuesday, June 17, at 5:30 p.m. The historical society will also hold its annual membership meeting at the event to elect board members and report on the past year's achievements.
