Mercer County, Pa. - A total of $760,000 in grant funding has been awarded between two different programs and organizations within Mercer County that focus on providing affordable housing for those in need and mitigating blight.

Five-hundred-thousand of that grant funding will go to the Mercer County Housing Authority and its Veterans Housing Development Center Project, which aims to provide 10 units of affordable living to veterans suffering from homelessness.

The Community Action Partnership of Mercer County (CAPMC) received three separate grants for different projects the organization is working towards.

CAPMC received $125,000 towards its Lots of Love program, which looks to restore and develop blighted areas within the county.

Another $100,000 was awarded to CAPMC for its Bridge Subsidy Housing program, which assists homeless people with mental illnesses in acquiring affordable housing.

Finally, CAPMC received $35,000 in funding to go towards its Assets Match Program, which helps participants establish and maintain a savings account.

"This funding will help veterans and at-risk folks across Mercer County. The funding will also support the success of Community Action Partnership's Lots to Love program," said Pennsylvania Representative Parke Wentling.

This grant funding was supplemented from Marcellus Shale Impact Fees and Realty Transfer Taxes and the organizations above were applicants of the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement.
