YOUNGSTOWN - The Simply Slavic Festival is in full swing at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre. But, there is plenty more happening throughout the weekend.

Pride Youngstown, the Simply Slavic festival, Cash explosion at the Covelli Center and the No Kings protest at the Mahoning County Courthouse are all happening throughout the day Saturday.

With the variety of very different events all at once, crowds are expected to swell in downtown Youngstown. To avoid chaos, the City of Youngstown and the Police Department are stepping in. For starters, the city is making sure drivers have a place to park.

There will be free and open parking all day Saturday, June 14 at the lot behind 20 Federal and at the Covelli Center.

As for the No Kings protest, YPD is coordinating with the Mahoning County Sheriff's office, although they say they've no reason to expect trouble.

“Like anytime else, if something could potentially pop off, you know, that they need support, we want to make sure that we’re there for them,” said Jerry Greene, Mahoning County Sheriff.

Greene said his office is always willing to help law enforcement throughout the county.

“It's something we're all too aware of. Obviously its had chatter across the nation and all of that. But we're there to support Youngstown if they need our support. We've been in contact with them and the goal at the end of the day is to make everybody is safe,” said Greene.

Commerce Street from Symphony Place to Wick Avenue will be partially closed from 10:30AM Saturday until around 12:30 p.m. following the pride parade.
