Mercer Borough mayor charged with felony after allegedly breaking into daughter's apartment

MERCER, Pa. - Mercer Borough Mayor Travis Schaa is facing a felony charge after police say he entered his daughter's apartment without permission.
According to a criminal complaint, the incident happened June 6 on the 100 Block of South Diamond Street when Schaa's daughter called police alleging her father broke into her apartment without permission.
Police say the incident began after Schaa saw her get into a vehicle with someone he suspsects her of being in a relationship with. From there, police say Schaa followed them to the apartment and entered with a key after his daughter refused multiple times to let him in.
According to the complaint, Schaa was not supposed to have this key because his daughter had asked for it back from him in February and she thought she had the only keys to the apartment at that point.
Police say Schaa "became confrontational" and demanded his daughter to return the vehicle she was using because it belonged to him.
Detectives spoke with Schaa June 9. Police say he admitted to entering the apartment using the key.
Court records show Schaa is charged with a felony charge of criminal trespassing, as well as one misdemeanor count of defiant trespassing. He was arraigned June 12 and is due back in court Thursday, June 26.
