Mercer County, Pa. - The Shenango Valley Shuttle Service has launched ride SVSS, a new app made in partnership with Modeshift to allow for mobile fare collection and QR code validation to Mercer County's Fixed-route Service.

"Our goal is to ensure we're serving the needs of the Mercer County and Shenango Valley communities as they evolve," said Executive Director of the Mercer County Regional COG Jill Boozer.

This platform, released June 16 aims to bring convenience and flexibility to riders in Mercer Country and across Shenango Valley.

Shuttles will still take fares in cash to allow a truly flexible public transportation experience, but ride SVSS will allow the purchase of one-day passes for those who take multiple trips a day through the shuttle.

One-way fare prices remain the same with a price of $1.25 and riders can use both their smartphones to pay, cash, credit or debit cards or use a smart card that connects to e-wallets.

"By introducing new technology, we're not only making transit more convenient but also opening the door to future improvements that reflect how people live and travel today," added Boozer.

ride SVSS is available through both Apple's App Store and the Google Play Store with support for both iPhones and Android devices.
