YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Western Reserve Port Authority (WRPA) is looking to acquire two former Eastern Gateway Community College properties in downtown Youngstown.

WRPA Executive Director Anthony Trevena tells 21 News the Port Authority is currently in negotiations with the State of Ohio, who currently owns the properties located at 101 East Boardman Street and 39 South Champion Street.

The East Boardman Street property is located across the street from The Mocha House and used to house Eastern Gateway's Health and Workforce building.

Trevena says the Port Authority is in discussions with The Mocha House to have their business moved to that property should WRPA acquire it.

The South Champion Street property used to be a parking garage for Eastern Gateway students. This parking garage is now closed.

Trevena says if the Port Authority acquires the garage, he will seek funding to clear the site for future development. There is no word yet on what development could possibly come to the property.
