Big beer brewer pauses production to keep Shenango firefighters hydrated

SHENANGO TOWNSHIP, Lawrence Co., Pa. - The Shenango Area Fire District has received a donation of canned drinking water through a partnership between Anheuser-Busch and the National Volunteer Fire Council.
The water, delivered by Frank B. Fuhrer Wholesale, is intended to support firefighters during wildfire responses and other extended incidents.
Anheuser-Busch has a program where it periodically pauses beer production to can emergency drinking water for disaster relief efforts.
Since 2019, the brewer has collaborated with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) to provide water to volunteer fire departments for wildfire preparedness.
In 2025, Anheuser-Busch plans to donate 1.5 million cans of water to volunteer fire departments across the United States.
Departments that received water in 2025 met criteria, including having responded to wildfires in 2024 and planning to do so in 2025, being over 50% volunteer, and serving a population of 25,000 or less. Each selected department received one pallet, which contains 2,352 cans of water.
Since the program's inception, 10.4 million cans of water have been distributed to more than 3,100 departments across nearly all 50 states.
