Mercy Health encouraging checkups ahead of summer travel

Mercy Health is encouraging anyone with vacation plans to prepare ahead and get a pre-travel checkup with a primary care provider, according to a news release.
According to the release, primary care providers can help ensure that anyone traveling has advice about the destination, including vaccinations and medication adjustments for time zone changes.
The release also recommends that anyone traveling abroad ask about region-specific vaccines or preventative measures to avoid health issues such as foodborne illness or insect bites.
A recommendation is shared in the release for travelers to pack a small health kit to take on the trip which could include:
- A list of allergies
- Medications
- Any important medical information, just in case care is needed while away from home
"Whether you're traveling across the state or around the globe, it's important to know how to stay well while on the road," said Dr. Stephen Predebon, a family medicine physician at Mercy Health - Columbiana Primary Care.
Dr. Predebon continued," We can help you prepare for jet lag, manage your medications and offer tips to keep your immune system strong during your trip."
