GIRARD, Ohio - Girard will be closing a portion of East Liberty Street from State Route 422 going into Marshall Road in July to allow for more room to view fireworks being shot off at the Mt. Carmel Festival.

E. Liberty St. will be closed on Wednesday, July 16 from 8 p.m. to midnight to allow for the fireworks display to wrap up.

The recommended detour route for those who normally take the road closed off would be to head south onto State Route 422, west on Interstate 80, northwest on Salt Springs Youngstown Road and northeast on West Liberty Street.

Mt. Carmel Festival is being held at 33 W. Wilson Avenue, Girard, and will be beginning on Saturday, July 12 and ends after the fireworks ceremony at 11 p.m. on July 16.
