Stormy today, clear skies ahead for the Fourth of July

Getting out the door on Monday? No sweat. The real challenge might be coming back. Our much-needed reprieve from daily rain and storms was fleeting. We're keeping an eye on storms set to arrive just in time for the Monday rush home. Temps reach the mid 80s with heat index values in the upper 80s.

A southwest wind is set to siphon in exceptionally high levels of moisture into our region. In fact, moisture levels might break daily records, creating an environment ripe for storms to unleash tropical downpours and localized flash flooding. Some strong to severe storms are also possible, fueled by stronger winds high up in the sky that will help make them last longer. Be prepared by downloading the app right HERE.

Once we put Tuesday lingering rain to bed, the payoff will be several days—three or four, to be exact—of glorious sunshine and comfortable, dry weather. This pleasant change comes courtesy of a "bubble of no trouble” arriving from Canada, delivering an air mass with warmer temperatures and wonderfully low humidity, a refreshing break we've yet to experience so far this summer.

Right now, the early look at the Fourth of July is holding some delightful warm summer weather and ideal sky conditions for firework viewing. The weekend will be hotter than a firecracker on both Saturday and Sunday with rain chances increasing for the end of the holiday weekend.

Have a great Monday! And remember when thunder roars, go indoors!
