Bond continued for Girard youth coach accused of sex crimes

WARREN, Ohio - Bond was continued for a Girard youth softball coach indicted last week on multiple charges of rape, gross sexual imposition and illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material.
Shane S. Genetta, 40, of Girard, faces 10 felony charges, including eight counts of first-degree rape, one count of third-degree gross sexual imposition and one count of first-degree illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance.
During an arraignment hearing Monday morning, Genetta pled not guilty to these charges and his bond of $1 million was continued. He's due back in court Wednesday, July 9.
Genetta was initially charged in Girard Municipal Court with two counts of rape in connection with incidents dating back to 2017. A grand jury indictment on June 26 expanded those charges.
According to the indictment, Genetta's alleged crimes began in the summer of 2015 when the alleged victim was six years old, and continued until May 20, 2025, just days before he was initially charged.
The indictment also includes an allegation that Genetta took a nude photo or video of the victim in March 2025 when she was 16.
Genetta was a softball coach for the Girard Youth Softball Association, and images of him with the team have since been removed from social media. He remains held on a $1 million bond.
