Peacocks found abandoned on Lordstown property
1/3
LORDSTOWN, Ohio - Animal Welfare League Humane Agents rescued two peacocks from a home in Lordstown.
The birds were left behind after their owner passed away and have not been attended to until AWL stepped in.
There are a total of three peacocks. Two of them were captured, but one is still unconfined.
Since the owner died, the peacocks have been fending for themselves by eating cat food left out by a neighbor, wild berries and small snakes. Peacocks usually feed on fruit, seeds, grain, bugs and reptiles for their diet.
In one of the images posted above, a black garbage bag was used to protect the peacock from injury during capture.
According to the Humane Agents, the birds are safe and are getting the care they need.
AWL encourages anyone who comes across a peacock to call a professional to handle it.
