YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Youngstown Police Department is looking to hire full-time police officers.

The job description from the online listing states that the police department is seeking full-time police officers. 

The salary range for the position is between $43,680 and $62,479.04 annually.

Examples of duties for the position include:

  • Conduct patrols in an area of Youngstown on foot, by motorcycle or by patrol car
  • Conduct preliminary investigations at the sene of crime and serious accidents
  • Directs traffic at intersections and at accidents
  • Processes the scene of crime or accident, makes criminal record checks and writes detailed reports on computer and paper
  • Makes investigations into complaints and crimes involving juveniles

Minimum qualifications for the position include graduation from high school or a GED certificate, experience or training in dealing with the public and be 21-years-old or older in good physical condition.

Applicants must hold a valid Ohio driver's license and be a resident of Mahoning County, or an Ohio county adjacent to Mahoning County, at the time of hire.

Additionally, applicants must have the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certification and must be certified as a Police officer in the State of Ohio with a minimum of 12 months of full or part-time with a police agency.

Each applicant considered will be subject to a complete background investigation, in additon to the following:

  • A polygraph test/voice stress analysis
  • A psychological test
  • Drug testing
  • Credit report
  • Employment history
