MERCER, Pa. - A new way to be seen for minor medical concerns is now open in Mercer County. “Thru Care” is a first of its kind drive through urgent care where patients are seen without ever leaving their cars.

“The coughs and colds that have to wait two or three hours in the emergency room can come to us and be seen in 15 minutes,” Kacy Garlock, the Director of Patient Affairs for Thru Care said. “As long as you can make it to your car we can get you all taken care of.”

It’s as easy as ordering from your favorite fast food chain.

Patients check in at the first window then pull up to the screen and speaker and visit with Dr. Brian Wolfson, the CEO of Thru Care, who’s working from inside the building. Once there, patients explain their symptoms and are examined with the video camera.

They can handle most non-emergency situations like the common cold, poison ivy, ear infections, sore throat, congestion, pink eye and urinary tract infections.

And after the non-contact visit, patients can also get their prescriptions for their diagnosis at the check out window.

“Anything that’s life threatening chest pain, heart attack, stroke symptoms should not be coming here,” Garlock advised. “Those are definitely emergency room situations.”

Garlock said the less than 15 minute visit is designed to make things easier for the handicapped, busy families and working professionals.

Thru Care accepts all major medical insurances. If you want to go out of pocket it’s a flat $75 fee which covers your visit and any medications you need.

The facility is located at 101 East Butler Street and is open Monday - Friday 9a.m. to 7p.m. and Saturdays 9a.m. to 1p.m.
