MAHONING VALLEY, Ohio - The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley (CFMV) has awarded $722,414 during its second quarter grant cycle, funding 55 nonprofit organizations working to meet the needs of residents across the Valley.
The funding, made possible through the Foundation's discretionary resources and support from fund holders, includes $293.235 awarded through the CFMV General Grant.
In addition, more than half of the grant total came from three of the Foundation's supporting organizations.
The Western Reserve Health Foundation provided $152,090 the Trumbull Memorial Health Foundation provided $152,090 and The William Swanston Charitable Fund contributed $88,000.
The grant review team, which includes staff, board members and community representatives, was impressed by the care, insight and expertise shown by local nonprofits.
"We know that funding for nonprofits continues to be more uncertain than ever. We are honored to support their work in any way we can, whether through financial support, education and personal development or networking and coalition building," said CFMV President Casey Krell.
Two additional committee-led funds also made their annual awards this cycle. The International Institute Funds granted $30,651 to five local organizations in support of programming that assists foreign-born residents and celebrates cultural diversity.
Recipients included Lit Youngstown, Oak Hill Collaborative, The English Center, the YSU International Student Welcome Committee and the YWCA Mahoning Valley.
The Young Philanthropist Fund, led by the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals, awarded $5,938 through its annual distribution.
Funding was provided to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Northeast Ohio and Oak Hill Collaborative, each receiving $2,500 and The Butler Institute of American Art, which received $938.
