AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - The Austintown Township Board of Trustees unanimously voted to approve a 10-year 60% tax abatement for a new development coming to the township.

Trustee Monica Deavers tells 21 News trustees approved the tax abatement on a project to build a 25,000 square foot multi-unit warehouse at 6405 Silica Road. Deavers says she's happy to see a development like this come to the township.

Trustee Bruce Shepas adds that this was the largest piece of industrial land that the township has left.

The developer for the project is GSP Land Holdings, based out of North Jackson. Ryan Engelhardt with GSP Land Holdings tells 21 News he is working with the Western Reserve Port Authority (WRPA) and the Lake to River economic development district on the project.

As for what the building will be used for, Engelhardt says everything is still speculative at this time and nothing is set in stone.

Shepas says this development will create several new jobs, but the exact amount won't be determined until a tenant is decided on.
