HERMITAGE The Hermitage Volunteer Fire Department has announced that it now offers Quick Response Service (QRS) to the community, providing basic life support when ambulance services are delayed or need assistance. The Pennsylvania Department of Health recently certified the department for the service.

The department can now respond to medical calls with equipment and personnel to begin or help with patient care. This new service aims to provide support in situations where an ambulance might be delayed or additional help is needed.

To equip the new QRS, the Hermitage Fire-Rescue department received grant money from the Buhl Regional Health Foundation. This funding allowed the department to purchase all necessary medical equipment without using local tax dollars.

The grant enabled the acquisition of two identical sets of emergency equipment. The sets can be moved between various fire department vehicles, including a utility terrain vehicle for use at events or in remote areas not accessible by larger vehicles.
