OSHP release name of victim in fatal Beaver Township two-car crash

BEAVER TWP., Ohio - Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) have released the name of the victim in a two-car crash that occurred in Beaver Township on Friday.
OSHP told 21 News one adult man died in the two-car crash at around 4:39 p.m. on Route 7 between Hutter Drive and West Garfield Road, just west of Pine Lake.
A release from OSHP identifies the victim as 49-year-old Clinton Vankirk of Poland.
According to the release, a 2008 Chevrolet Express van, operated by Sally Strom, 61, of Youngstown was traveling northbound on State Route 7.
Vankirk is listed in the release to have been driving a 2006 Ford Escape, traveling southbound on State Route 7 when Strom traveled across the center line and struck Vankirk's vehicle in the side.
Both vehicles traveled off the west side of the roadway and overturned.
Vankirk was pronounced dead on the scene while Strom was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Route 7 was closed in both directions around the crash scene for several hours as state troopers conducted their investigation.
The scene has since been cleared.
According to the release, departments that assisted on scene included:
- Beaver Township Police Department
- Beaver Township Fire Department
- Beaver Township EMS
- Springfield Township Police
The crash remains under investigation, though drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, according to the release.
