America Makes to host 3D printing leaders in Canfield

CANFIELD America Makes, a Mahoning Valley-based national group focused on additive manufacturing, will host global stakeholders at its 13th yearly meeting in Canfield, on Aug. 5-6.
The event, called the Members Meeting & Exchange (MMX), will take place at Waypoint 4180, located at 4180 Westford Place, Canfield, OH 44406. Leaders from government, businesses, and universities will discuss the future of additive manufacturing.
Speakers will include Bill Murray, co-founder and chief engineer at Ursa Major, a company that designs and builds rocket engines. Also speaking is Matthew Sermon, who works with the Maritime Industrial Base, which refers to the network of businesses and facilities that build, repair, and maintain naval vessels and other maritime equipment.
Other presentations will feature experts from the Department of Defense, National Institute of Standards and Technology, Defense Logistics Agency, and Defense Innovation Unit.
Industry professionals from Eaton, ExxonMobil, and Siemens Energy will also share how additive manufacturing is changing their fields.
Leaders from America Makes will provide updates on technology, workforce development, and plans to grow manufacturing in the U.S.
John Wilczynski, Executive Director of America Makes, said the meeting helps different groups work together to improve additive manufacturing. He added that the event also supports job training and national manufacturing.
America Makes will also announce awards for people who have shown a strong commitment to its mission. Attendees will also learn about a new project and take part in a related online meeting.
The MMX event is open to both members and non-members. People interested in attending should sign up by July 18.
