SHARON The Mercer County Food Bank has receieved a $1,000 grant from a program through The Starbucks Foundation, aiming to recognize the work the food bank does to address hunger across Mercer County, Pennsylvania.

The $1,000 grant was awarded as part of The Starbucks Foundation's Neighborhood Grants program.

The program, according to a news release, allows Starbucks partners and alumni to nominate nonprofit organizations that are making differences in their communities.

Mercer County Food Bank was selected from over 56,000 nominations from Starbucks partners from across the nation.

The food bank can be located at 109 South Sharpsville Avenue in Sharon.

The grant money, according to the release, will go toward supporting the food bank's initiative to feed the nearly 16,000 people experiencing food insecurity in the county.

"We are honored to receive this grant and deeply grateful to the local Starbucks partner who nominated us," said Rebecca Page, Executive Director of the Mercer County Food Bank.

Page continued," Support like this helps us continue our mission to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry."

In 2024, Mercer County Food Bank distributed more than three million pounds of food.

"Through this latest round of Neighborhood Grants, they've nominated local organizations making meaningful impact, from addressing hunger to supporting youth. We're proud to support these efforts and the role our partners play in strengthening their communities," said Kelly Goodejohn, Executive Director of The Starbucks Foundation.
