Football: Meek family has more than 100 years of coaching combined
The Meek Family is constant with high school football.
Bill Meek, Sr. is entering his 55th year of coaching while son's Bill, Jr. & Eric have 68 years combined.
Bill Jr. is the head coach at Lisbon & Eric is at Steubenville Central Catholic and the 85 year old elder is helping both of them.
"It keeps you going and its fun being around the kids," said Meek Sr. "Every four years you get a different group of kids and to me that's what its all about."
Bill Jr. has 30 plus years coaching and knows how special it is to have his father by his side.
"My brother and I are the luckiest guys in the world. We were born into a football family and I can't put into words what its meant to have my dad as my hero and its the best doggone football coach I've ever met."
Eric who has more than 20 years in coaching echoed those thoughts.
"When I got my first head coaching job in 1993, Dad left Cardinal Mooney to come with me and he's been a great role model and he knows a lot about the game."
The trio of coaches were together when Weir, West Virginia won the state championship in 2005, when Eric was the head coach.
The elder Meek shows no signs of slowing down as he'll be on the sidelines for both teams this coming season.
"Lisbon plays the majority of its games on Friday and Eric and Steubenville Catholic Central play on Saturday, so I'll be able to go to both games,"
Bill Jr. knows everyone father's a hero but for the Meek's its special.
"It's so invaluable to have our Dad around and for him to have taught us how to do things the right way makes you very proud,"
