CHAMPION TWP., Ohio - Charges have been filed after a dog and cat were found dead at a homein Champion Township.

According to a Facebook post from Healthy Hearts & Paws Project President and CEO Jason Cooke, he was called to help an officer at the scene of a residence on Alva Avenue.

When he got there, Cooke and the responding officer discovered a deceased dog locked in his crate, as well as a cat found dead in the basement of the home. The crate the dog was found in is pictured above.

According to Warren Municipal Court records, Jason Gribble, who turns 46 on Wednesday, was charged with two fifth-degree felony counts of prohibitions concerning companion animals.

Court records do not show an arraignment date for Gribble at this time.

Cooke says in the post that he has contacted Officer Pike with the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County to assist in an investigation into this case.
