Primary Health Network Charitable Foundation awards $30,000 to 10 students

SHARON The Primary Health Network Charitable Foundation (PHNCF) announced in a news release on Thursday that 10 students would each be receiving a scholarship. All scholarships total $30,000.
The scholarships will go toward benefitting 10 students pursuing a career in healthcare or allied health fields.
"It is with full gratitude that we honor the selected students with their academic awards," said Cheryl Goldstone.
Goldstone continued," It is because of their tireless dedication to helping others and committement to community, dedicated by the individuals' compassion and vision along with their academic achievements, that we can continue to legacy of creating a stronger, healthier community for all."
Recipients of the award and where they are attending include:
- Gianna Amadio - University of Pittsburgh
- Brendan Burns - Duquesne University
- Kylie Gerhart - Slippery Rock University
- Deann Kristopaitis - Lebanon Valley College
- DJ Miller - Grove City College
- Kalina Powell - PennWest University of Clarion
- Landon Ritter - Duquesne University
- Julianna Sloan - Thiel College
- Hanna Stolec - University of Toledo
- Emma Thomas - Youngstown State University
Students who received the awards, according to the release, are either enrolled in a public college, private college or vocational school or college-bound.
Additionally, applicants had to live in a county that Primary Health Network (PHN) serves, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and submit an essay that explains how they would apply their education, goals and ideas with PHN and PHNCF.
According to the release, PHNCF supports the mission and goals of PHN, Pennsylvania's largest community health center.
The foundation raises funds to help build and sustain programs, such as scholarships, that could help increase access to healthcare services and improve the health of the community it serves.
