East Rochester man wins $50,000 from $30 scratch-off ticket

EAST ROCHESTER, Ohio - According to a news release from the Ohio Lottery, an East Rochester man has won $50,000 from a $30 scratch-off ticket.
The win stems from the East Rochester man sleeping through an alarm and missing work, according to the release.
The man decided to go to Classic 2 Drive, located at 1025 East Lincoln Way in Minerva, and buy an energy drink.
While there, the man purchased a $30 scratch-off and won $500. With these winnings, he decided to purchase a few more.
One ticket the East Rochester man purchased was a Monopoly 200X scratch-off ticket.
As he was leaving the store, he realized it was a $50,000 winner and confirmed it with the retailer.
After mandatory state and federal taxes, the man will take home $36,000.
With these winnings, he plans to completely pay off a truck that he had purchased following a different lottery win in March of 2025.
According to the release, the March win stemmed from the man's truck sliding off the road near a gas station.
He decided to go inside and buy a drink and VIP Millions scratch-off. This VIP Millions scratch-off was a $20,000 winner.
Monopoly 200X is a $30 scratch off with a top prize of $200,000 a year for 25 years.
As of July 15, 2025, Monopoly 200X has three top prizes remaining in the game.
