Four Trumbull County farmers' markets accepting SNAP benefits

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Four farmers' markets in Trumbull County are accepting Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, allowing residents to purchase fresh, locally grown food using their Ohio Direction Card.
This is part of a statewide initiative by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services allowing low-income individuals to supplement their household budgets for food purchases using their Ohio Direction Card, which functions like a debit card.
The participating Trumbull County markets are:
- Howland Farmers' Market: This market has two locations and operating schedules. The location at 8189 East Market Street in Warren operates Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., from June 7, 2025, to Oct. 11, 2025. The location at 8273 High Street in Warren operates on the first and third Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., from Nov. 1, 2025, to May 16, 2026. Both Howland locations are Produce Perks locations.
- Hubbard Farmers' Market: Located at 13 West Liberty Street in Hubbard, this market is open Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., from July 6, 2025, to Sept. 28, 2025. It is also a Produce Perks location.
- Warren Farmers' Market: This market is at 347 North Park Avenue in Warren and operates Tuesdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., from June 3, 2025, to Sept. 30, 2025. It is a Produce Perks location.
At participating farmers' markets, cardholders typically use their card to buy tokens, which can then be used to purchase eligible food items. Any unused tokens can either be saved for a future visit or refunded to the card.
ODJFS Director Matt Damschroder noted that using SNAP at these markets allows recipients to eat healthy and support local growers.
