Warren woman charged after two children found alone at store

WARREN One woman has been charged with one count of child endangerment following an incident on Sunday where two children were found alone in a drug store.
According to a report from the Warren Police Department, the incident happened at a Walgreens, located at 804 West Market Street in Warren, around 2 p.m. on Sunday.
The report states that two children, one 9-year-old and one 4-year-old, had allegedly walked away from their grandmother's apartment to the Walgreens on West Market Street.
When an officer arrived on scene to speak to the children, the 9-year-old received a call from their grandmother, who the officer later identified as Blythe Allen over the phone.
Allen told the officer over the phone that she lives in an apartment located in the area of 700 Buckeye Street NW, had sent the children to Walgreens and was allegedly able to watch the children through a window.
The manager of the drug store told the officer that she was concerned about the children because they walked across Tod Avenue NW and were shopping in the store without an adult.
The officer had the two children lead him back to Allen's apartment.
Once there, Allen showed the officer the window that she allegedly could see the children on their way to Walgreens.
In the report, the officer states that when he looked out the window, Walgreens was obstructed by vehicles in the lot and that Tod Avenue was hard to see clearly.
Allen was then charged with one count of endangering children (M1) and issued a summons to appear in Warren Municipal Court on Monday at 8:30 a.m.
Allen pleaded not guilty during the hearing and is set to appear in court again on July 31.
