YOUNGSTOWN According to a news release, Meridian HealthCare has announced the appointment of a chief medical officer. 

Lewis Spirios, M.D. has been appointed as Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Spirtos is a board-certified psychiatrist and addictionologist and joins Meridian HealthCare with over a decade of clinical leadership and patient-centered care.

"We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Spirtos to the Meridian team," said Larry Moliterno, President and CEO of Meridian HealthCare.

Dr. Spirtos most recently served as the Medical Director at Mercy Health in Youngstown, developing and implementing multiple programs, including:

  • Traditional Mental Health Intensive Outpatient
  • Dual Diagnosis Intensive Outpatient

Dr. Spirtos has also introduced innovative treatments such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Spravato therapy.

According to the release, his leadership in outpatient services has led to successful treatment of people throughout the Mahoning Valley.

Dr. Spirtos' term began July 14, 2025.
