HUBBARD, Ohio - The man at the center of a large-scale police standoff and hostage situation in Hubbard on Tuesday has been officially charged with aggravated menacing among other crimes.

32-year old Brandan Jones is currently in Trumbull County Jail facing two counts of aggravated menacing, violating a temporary protection order, inducing panic and domestic violence.

According to a news release from the Hubbard Police Department officers were dispatched to a Hubbard residence due to reports of a domestic violence incident with the offender barricaded inside. The victim, quickly identified as Jones' girlfriend was inside with him.

She had locked herself inside a bathroom to protect herself and called the police. She told dispatchers that Jones was threatening to hurt her and himself as well as indicating he wanted to provoke law enforcement to use deadly force against him.

Officers were not able to make contact at the door, but the woman managed to escape and was quickly secured by officers at the scene.

Jones was still inside and deemed a threat. According to the criminal complaint the Mahoning Valley Crisis Response Team (CRT) was activated and deployed leading to the street being blocked off with several SWAT and standard police vehicles.
