BOARDMAN Three Boardman Fire Department firefighters were called out to help a baby bird that had fallen out of its nest on Wednesday evening.

The call came in at 7:28 p.m. according to officials, the caller stating that the bird had fallen from its nest at a Walgreens near the Southern Park Mall.

The nest was located inside one of the letters of the Walgreens store sign, located at 7295 Market Street in Boardman.

When the three responders arrived, they found the caller holding a box with the bird inside.

Video sent in from the caller, later identified as Jacob Latessa, shows the three first responders setting up a ladder, preparing to deliver the bird back its the nest.

Firefighters Brian Hallquist, Jordan Elswick and Troy Haire were successful in returning the bird to its nest.

Officials say that the bird seemed okay after it was put back in the nest.

Latessa told 21 News that he wanted to share the story and recognize the responders.

"I just want to give them some recognition for being so kind and taking time out to help save the bird," said Latessa.
