BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio -  A Campbell woman is scheduled for arraignment today following her arrest in connection with an alleged assault and robbery at a Brookfield Township restaurant.

According to a Brookfield police report, 20-year-old Kimara McKinney was outside the Subway on Warren Sharon Road before opening on Wednesday, pulling on doors and repeatedly calling the store. Once the business opened, she entered and allegedly struck one employee several times in the face. Another employee was also struck several times while attempting to intervene.

During the confrontation, McKinney allegedly took an employee's cellphone from their pocket, stating, "I have your phone now," before fleeing in her vehicle.

Officers located and stopped her vehicle on State Route 7. Police said McKinney initially provided a false name but later admitted to being at the Subway. She denied involvement in the incident despite having the stolen phone in her possession.

After being taken into custody, McKinney reportedly slipped out of her handcuffs and threatened arresting officers before being subdued.

Both Subway employees were treated at a Warren hospital for minor injuries. Joe Hray, owner of the Brookfield Subway, told 21 News that the employees are recovering, and the store reopened by noon Wednesday. Hray commended the Brookfield police for their swift apprehension of a suspect.

McKinney is being held at the Trumbull County Jail on charges, including felony counts of robbery and identity fraud, and misdemeanor charges of assault, menacing, obstructing official business and driving under suspension.

The video arraignment is set for 8:45 a.m. in Trumbull County Eastern District Court.
