DAMASCUS, Ohio - According to officials, a crew from the Salem Fire Department was on the scene of an attached garage fire at a home in Damascus to assist as mutual aid.

The call for mutual aid came in around 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday according to a dispatcher with the department. 

When responders arrived to the location, found at 14565 Seacrest Road, they found the attached garage involved in an active fire. 

As of 8:30 p.m., responders from the Salem Fire Department were still on scene.

According to a call with a dispatcher from Damascus Fire Department around 9:30 p.m., crews are being cleared and are heading back to their departments.

According to officials, no one was home when the fire started. The property owners had returned back home to find the attached garage smoking.

No one was injured in the incident, but Captain Thompson of the Damascus Fire Department speculates that the damage was extensive.

Thompson told 21 News that two vehicles were lost in the fire, and the home sustained an estimate of $30,000, though that number has not been confirmed.

The fire is still under investigation.

Thompson told 21 News that Damascus Fire Department arrived on scene first, followed by Salem Fire Department and then by several other departments.

  • North Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department
