MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - The Mahoning County OVI Task Force is planning a checkpoint Saturday night.

The exact time and location of the checkpoint is expected to be released Saturday morning.

OVI checkpoints are funded by federal grant dollars.

"Based on provisional data, there were 581 OVI-related fatal crashes last year in Ohio" Lieutenant Ben Dennison, commander of the Canfield Post, said. "State troopers make an average of 25,000 OVI arrests each year in an attempt to combat these dangerous drivers. OVI checkpoints are designed d to not only deter impaired driving but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways."
