CANTON, Ohio - Vice President JD Vance made a stop in Canton Monday morning to highlight the passage of President Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill."

Vance spoke to workers at the Metallus Steel Plant, answering questions before touring the facility.

He said the Trump Administration believes the bill is good for American families and businesses, saying "if you want to build something in Mexico or China or some other foreign country and dump it into the United States of America, you're going to pay a big fat penalty."

Vance said the tariffs were the first step in President Trump's plan and that signing the "One Big Beautiful Bill" into law was the second step. The vice president claims take home pay in the U.S. will go up, going as far as saying families in the Canton region will see their paychecks go up seven-to eight-thousand dollars.

He also claimed the federal government cut taxes on overtime through the bill.

According to reporting by the Associated Press, Medicaid and SNAP face deep cuts to fund the bill's tax breaks and spending. It also rolls back clean energy tax credits and could add $3.3 trillion to the federal deficit.

An AP reporter in attendance also asked about the reasons that the government should shield the Epstein list.

In response, Vance said the administration isn't shielding anything.

"He's been incredibly transparent about this stuff, but some of that stuff takes time," Vance said. "You have to assemble that stuff, compile that stuff, you've got to redact some victims' names to protect the victims but the president has been very clear he wants full transparency."
