Two first-time candidates running for Boardman Township Board of Trustees

BOARDMAN, Ohio - BOARDMAN - Two first-time candidates are running for Boardman Township Trustee in the November 2025 election.
Matt Gambrel is a lifelong Boardman resident and practicing attorney in the Mahoning County courts. Gambrel previously ran to be a Mahoning County Court Judge in 2018, but was not elected.
According to his campaign website, Gambrel's campaign for the Boardman Board of Trustees focuses on flooding solutions, reliable and funded emergency services, road and infrastructure maintenance, prioritizing cutting waste over raising taxes and administrative transparency.
"... I love this community, and I believe a fresh voice can bring progress," says Gambrel on his website
Gambrel is hosting an upcoming campaign dinner at Carmella's Cafe on Thursday, July 31.

Cody McCormick is a 2013 graduate of Boardman High School and an Amazon Area Manager.
According to his press release, McCormick joined a resident committee earlier this year focused on the revitalization of the Southern Park Mall. Here, he claims, he encountered poorly handled discussions between community developers and stakeholders that prompted his decision to run.
"I've seen what's happening behind closed doors. The missed opportunities. The excuses. I stepped up because Boardman deserves better," McCormick says.
McCormick's campaign platform focuses on business recruitment, zoning modernization for walkable development, plaza revitalization, and infrastructure upgrades. He promises to employ financial tools such as tax abatement and reinvestment financing to support these goals without raising taxes.
His campaign slogan, "Don't renew the past. Let's build what's next," can be found on his campaign website.
"It's time to build. Time to grow. And time to win," McCormick says.
