YOUNGSTOWN Police in Youngstown are investigating after an inmate was stabbed with a homemade knife in a prison early Tuesday morning.

According to a police report, the stabbing happened just before 12:30 a.m. at the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center, otherwise known as CoreCivic. 

Police say an inmate was stabbed by another inmate with a homemade knife, and was cut in several parts of his body including his back, his face and his right arm.

According to the report, neither the victim nor suspect would give police any information about what led up to the stabbing.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
