COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is directing county election officials to begin the next round of voter list audits.

Secretary LaRose issued a directive on Monday which would begin the process of removing outdated or abandoned registrations eligible for removal by 2029.

As officials begin to process the new round of removals, boards of elections are also preparing to complete the removal of the previous round.

Those removals are scheduled to occur by September 23 of 2025.

Federal law dictates that any registration eligible for removal from the voter rolls must undergo a four-year notification process. During that time, registered electors are sent notices in the mail.

These notices, sent from county boards of elections, have clear instructions on how to restore registration to active status.

Additionally, those seeking to view their registration to see if it is eligible for removal can do so through an online Registration Readiness List portal provided by the Ohio Secretary of State's office.

"Ohio has one of the most efficient and effective voter list maintenance programs in the county," said Secretar LaRose.

LaRose continued," Members of the U.S. House Committee on Administration, which helps to oversee our election laws, have been citing Ohio's voter registration integrity efforts as a model for the nation, and it's one that's been upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. We've created a process that's very transparent so Ohioans can have absolute confidence in the integrity of our elections."

Following the September deadline for all voter registrations in the previous round of removals, any eligible citizen removed could restore their registration immediately by registering again on the VoteOhio website.
