Trumbull County Land Reutilization Corporation to receive $270,000 in grants
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Department of Development announced $1.4 million in grants and tax credits on Tuesday, aiming to help Ohioans in six counties achieve homeownership.
The funding comes from the fourth round of the Welcome Home Ohio program, which is used to help landbanks purchase, rehabilitate or build qualifying residential properties for income-eligible Ohioans.
The Trumbull County Land Reutilization Corporation was chosen to receive some of the funding as part of the fourth round of recipients through the Welcome Home Ohio program.
The Trumbull County Land Reutilization Corporation will receive $270,000 in grants to rehabilitate nine homes in the county.
"When it comes to building on our incredible economic momentum and attracting the very best talent to our state, quality of life matters. And that starts with housing," said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Department of Development.
Mihalik continued," By creating more housing opportunities in our communities, we're making Ohio the premier destination for people who are looking for a place where they can thrive both professionally and personally."
State Representative Nick Santucci (R-Niles) highlighted the funding the Trumbull County Land Reutilization Corporation received in a news release on Wednesday.
"This type of investment is critical for revitalizing our neighborhoods and making homeownership more accessible for Ohioans," said Santucci.
Santucci continued," I'm proud to have championed funding in the budget for the Welcome Home Ohio program, and I'm glad to see $270,000 awarded to the Trumbull County Land Reutilization Corporation. This funding will help attract families back to the Lake to River region, strengthen our communities and make a real impact for the people of Trumbull County."
According to the announcement, the Welcome Home Ohio program has administered a total of $100 million in grants for the fiscal years of 2024 and 2025.
Several other areas around the Mahoning Valley have also received funding through the Welcome Home Ohio program, including the Mahoning County Landbank and the Columbiana County Landbank in 2024.
